Why am I dressed like that

Clothing is a manifestation of our own individuality, character, social status, aspirations and beliefs. Our second skin, if you like. On a subconscious level, we read information in a matter of seconds and instantly draw a psychological portrait of the person in front of us.

Politicians and media personalities know this fact, which is why they turn to image makers in order to manage impressions. Yes, you heard right, the impression you make can be managed. And understanding how these tools work makes it easy to do. For example, you can get the job you want without having any experience. Only because of its appearance. Last year, I received the position of assistant to the president of a company, a large international holding. I had neither special skills nor the necessary work experience. In general, nothing of what was required. I only had tools for impression management. I beat out other candidates only because of my appearance and demeanor.

Understanding what a powerful tool is in my hands, I easily achieve my goals. Yes, this is a kind of manipulation of consciousness. But how often are we aware of the impression we make? Opening the closet, we unconsciously take out clothes, put them on and go outside. What is behind our daily choices? Are we engaged in “decoration” in order to appear better or, on the contrary, are we trying to hide, close ourselves off from prying eyes? Do we accept ourselves, our own gender, sexuality, our age, or, on the contrary, do we disguise ourselves by trying to pass ourselves off as someone else?

I'm starting a series of articles on impression management. I hope they will be useful to you, because by understanding how image works, you can easily get the desired position, make a lasting impression on employers, the opposite sex, and most importantly, they will help you understand yourself, get rid of uncertainty, previously laid down programs that prevent you from living and develop.
